347 stainless steel (UNS S34700) is a stabilized, austenitic, chromium steel alloy containing niobium and tantalum. The additions of niobium and tantalum prevent intergranular corrosion. The combination of chromium and tantalum also increase its resistance to creep deformation & stress ruptures when compared to 304 and 304L stainless steel (UNS S30400). It has strong oxidizing resistance especially compared to Stainless 321 (UNS S32100).

If you require a good high temperature, general corrosive resistant fastener, you need 347 Stainless Steel. The following are some key characteristics for 347 stainless steel:
347 Stainless fasteners are used in corrosive environments where temperatures may cycle to over 800 degrees Fahrenheit (425 degrees Celcius). Oil refinery applications are common. Other uses for 347 Stainless are in heat sensors and thermocouples. 321 Stainless (UNS S32100/ASTM A193 B8T) is a very close relative. While 347 Stainless is stabilized by the addition of columbium and tantalum to resist intergranular corrosion, 321 is stabilized by the addition of titanium.
Stainless Steel 347 is composed of approximately 69% iron, 18% chromium, 11% nickel, and 1% manganese, with trace elements of tantalum and columbium. These last two elements help prevent carbide precipitation and enhance the steel’s workability.
