What are Pipe Plugs
A pipe plug is a device used to seal the end of a pipe in order to prevent the flow of liquids, gases, or other substances through that section of the piping system.
What are the Common Uses
- Isolation for Maintenance: Pipe plugs can isolate a section of a pipe so that maintenance or repairs can be conducted without shutting down the entire system.
- Pressure Testing: Inflatable or mechanical plugs are used in hydrostatic or pneumatic testing to check the integrity of a pipeline by sealing off sections and applying pressure.
- Temporary Sealing: During construction or pipeline modifications, plugs temporarily block off unused or incomplete pipe sections to prevent debris or fluid ingress.
- Permanent Sealing: In some cases, pipe plugs are used for permanent closure of abandoned pipes.
